Independent film companies in the UK/local might produce, distribute and fund our media product. We would find an independent film company who specialise in horror films as this is our chosen genre and we would want to have the best company for it. Independent film companies would be much more willing to produce a film for us as a big, well-known company wouldn't work with less experienced directors. They work with directors they can trust and that they know will be successful. A company such as Jinx Media would be happy to distribute our film as they

A media institution is a company that has large amounts of companies in various media such as TV, radio, movies and the web. There are many different media insitutions around that produce, distribute and fund media products. Some of these media institutions are well known and very successful such as Lionsgate, Warner Bros Pictures, Dreamworks, Universal and Miramax. Other than film there are other media institutions such as BBC, ITV, Film4 and Channel  4. However, they wouldn't produce, distribute or fund our media product as we are not as experienced as the directors/producers they usually take on. For our film to be produced and funded we would need to find a local independent film company as they can work on low budgets and wouldn't look for successful 

directors as such. There are many different independent film companies such as ASL films, Big Tree, The Film Umbrella, Island Pictures and Grand Independent. It would be important to find a independent company that specialises in the horror genre as it would be their most skilled area to work in. From research, there are independent companies such as Left Films, Jinx Media and Kent Independent. A company like Jinx Media would be willing to produce, distribute and fund our media product.

 

Jinx Media was set up in the year 2003.  They do many different types of jobs to set up films such as scripting, filming and post-production. They have created a couple of horror films, one being 'HellBride' which was released in 2007. And another being 'TrashHouse'.  All these released films were in the genre of horror which is perfect for our film 'The Absence.' From further research into this company, they produce films at the age rating of 15+ which is around the target audience for our film. As a group we wanted to aim for a young audience, similar to our age, as we knew what they were interested in. As well as this, we could provide our target audience with actors of our age. So if Jinx Media produced, distributed and funded our media product we would be able to ensure that it is meeting our target demographic.
