What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

We used various technologies and equipment in the process of constructing and creating our credit sequence. One piece of equipment we learnt how to use a GoPro camera. We hadn't used this before but we liked the idea of it and we thought it would be an interesting component to our film. We used the GoPro in two ways.. First way of using it we placed it on an actors head so we could create a 'point of view' shot. This was effective for our flashback scenes. The second way we used the GoPro was in water. We placed the GoPro at the bottom of a jug so the audience were able to see a girl placing a tablet in the water to drug the main character. We used this piece of equipment for effect and for an unusual unique look to our credit sequence and we ended up learning how to use it in interesting ways.

GoPro
Final Cut Pro X
We used this piece of software on both our preliminary and our main task. This was new to most of us and we learnt a few editing techniques along the way. With Final Cut we placed scenes together, cut scenes down, added effects, added sound, edited sound and more. This software made our film much more appealing to our audience and more professional looking. We used this software to reverse our track and blur it, we were unsure on how to do this at first but after trying out other effects we found out how to. As well as editing the footage, this helped us add the credits and title into our credit sequence with special effects. This helped us to make our credits look like they were in the horror genre.
Motion
We used Motion to create our ident for DiscoeverDesign. We wanted to keep our ident simple and basic and Motion offered us various different templates to work with. This template, to begin with, didn't have our ident name or desired colours included. So we had to edit this to suit us. We changed the text to DiscoverDesign and changed the colour to a pale yellow. We decided to keep the background black as this was a theme amongst all horror film idents that we had researched. We found Motion quite difficult to use as it has a lot of different features and none of us had had any experience with it before, so we made sure our ident stayed simple and easy. However, we are happy with the simpleness of this ident and wouldn't of wanted to change anything else.
Camera and Tripod
We used the tripod throughout all of our film. The tripod helped us a lot to keep the camera steady and maintain a clear focus on all of our footage. The only time we didn't use the tripod was in the GoPro scenes. We all had experience with these cameras before in media and photography so it was simple for us. We knew how to use the zoom, how to pan and how to focus the camera. However, we still needed to learn how to use the camera effectively even if we had experience before, so we learnt more in our Preliminary task. This helped us a lot and also helped us with specific rules such as the 180 degree rule. With the preliminary, we realised that some of our footage was out of focus, so this was something we had to concentrate on in our main task.

Wix
Wix has been used to keep all of our work organised and together. At first we found it difficult to use but now it is simple and really helpful for our whole group and ourselves. Wix has been helpful during filming the most, as we could easily look at it when we were filming to look at our storyboard and props. We could also check back at our preliminary task to see what each rule was and how to stick to them in our main task.
